Game Of Thrones: An Underwhelming End To An Epic Series

The series finale relied on dull tropes which further confused the off-brand season 8 plot line

Disappointment.

That was the major thought that ran through my mind as I watched the final episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones last night. Though my brain kept nudging me, “Why are you still watching this?”, my heart wanted closure.

So I stayed with the nearly hour and a half long episode hoping that it would bring a satisfying conclusion to at least a few of the major plotlines.

Spoiler alert: It didn’t.

What it gave us instead is a bevy of cliched endings that effectively shut down years of intelligent fan theories.

To be fair, I didn’t expect all of the storylines to be neatly tied up in a bow by the end of the series. Quite the opposite, really.

However, I did expect to be confronted with a final season that was every bit as poignant as it was…
